ABOUT THE MEETING:   

The presentation will give a general overview of the oil and natural gas industry and shale exploration and development in Ohio, including: history of the oil and natural gas industry in Ohio; job, economic, and energy security opportunities from shale development; drilling and hydraulic fracturing processes; and how the industry and stringent regulations are protecting Ohio’s environment.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: 

Rebecca Heimlich is the American Petroleum Institute’s Ohio Campaign Manager.  Heimlich is overseeing the organization’s grassroots educational outreach efforts in the Buckeye state.  Heimlich is also the director of the Ohio Energy Resource Alliance, which is an alliance among the Ohio Petroleum Council (a division of API), the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program, Energy In Depth, the Buckeye Energy Forum, and America’s Natural Gas Alliance.

Heimlich brings nearly two decades of advocacy, campaign and public sector experience to these roles, most recently serving as the Ohio State Director for Americans for Prosperity.  Prior to her work with Americans for Prosperity, Heimlich worked on political campaigns, and served as assistant prosecutor with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, and as an associate for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, LLP and Taft Stettinius & Hollister respectively. 

Heimlich earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Law in Nashville, Tennessee. She lives in Loveland, Ohio with her husband, Phil, and their two children.

LOCATION:  Raffel’s is located at 10160 Reading Road, south of Glendale-Milford Road on the east side of Reading. Take I-75 to the Glendale-Milford Rd. Exit, go east on Glendale-Milford Road approximately ¾ of a mile to Reading Rd. and turn right on Reading.

 PE CREDITSDepending on the subject matter, attendance at IEEE Cincinnati Section Meetings now qualifies the attendee for Professional Development Hours towards renewal of Professional Engineers Licenses. Required documentation will be available following the meeting!  The Section Meetings also provide a great opportunity to network with fellow engineers in the area.
